Dr. Dana Rickman, President, Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education

Join us this Friday at the AC Hotel to welcome Dr. Dana Rickman, the president of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education. Before becoming President, Dr. Rickman served as vice president and as research and policy director.  In those roles, she led the EdQuest Georgia Coalition, coordinated the Education Policy Fellows Program (EPFP) and was the primary author of the Georgia Partnership’s annual Top Ten Issues to Watch report and the Economics of Education.

Dr. Rickman joined the organization in July 2011 after serving as the Director of Research and Policy at the Annie E. Casey Foundation – Atlanta Civic Site.  In that position, she provided leadership in research and policy analysis, and guided the development and implementation of strategies and programs designed to support the education achievement result area at the Casey Foundation.  She also worked for more than 10 years at Georgia State University conducting research on education programs within Georgia.

Dr. Rickman holds a PhD from Georgia State University in Political Science and Public Policy and a BA from Mary Washington College, in Fredericksburg, Va.  She has authored multiple articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters related to education policy.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Family Connection Partnerships, and the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement (GLISI).  She serves on advisory boards for several organizations including Get Georgia Reading – Georgia’s Campaign for Grade Level Reading, The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Neighborhood Nexus, the Alliance Theater Education Board – Advisory Committee, and the Leadership Council for Learn4Life – the Metro Atlanta Regional Education Partnership.
