Meriwether County Rotary Club supports the Furry Friends at the Meriwether County Animal Shelter

George Richmond, the Director of the Meriwether County Animal Shelter, was the guest speaker of the Meriwether County Rotary Club on July 23, 2024. Mr. Richmond spoke about how the Meriwether County Animal Shelter provides care and protection for homeless, abandoned, or neglected dogs or cats. In addition, the Shelter assists in finding forever homes for the animals who come to the Shelter.

The staff at the Shelter also respond to issues concerning stray dogs, nuisance dogs, dog bites, and reports of animal abuse within the county.

The goals of the Shelter is to:

  • Protect human and animal health, safety, and welfare through law enforcement;
  • Promote responsible stewardship of animals through public education; and
  • Provide care, shelter, and adoption for injured or homeless cats and dogs.

Ways to help the Shelter include volunteering your time, donating supplies, and/or providing monetary gifts to help an animal in need.

Animals are more than just our faithful companions. In many cases, they are also considered extended family. Animals can provide us with friendship and emotional support, helping us improve in our daily social lives.

To provide support to our furry friends, the Rotary Club of Meriwether County donated $500 to the Shelter.
