In June, Rotary District 6900 hosted a five-day Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) leadership summer camp at Georgia Southwestern University. The camp was open to young leaders aged 15 to 18 from West Georgia. The event brought together 96 students and 45 staff members from diverse backgrounds.
The students and staff significantly impacted their experience within the camp through various service projects. For example, on Tuesday morning, they packed 240 'It's a Girl Thing Bags' personal care kits for the Meriwether County School System Wraparound Center. This project was significant as it addressed a crucial need by providing feminine hygiene products in various sizes for students who could not afford them, inspiring us all with their dedication to service.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) differs from your average leadership program. It is a unique and enjoyable experience, organized by Rotary Clubs and District 6900. This program is a platform for participants to enhance their leadership skills, form new connections, and, most importantly, have a great time.
