DORCUS Food Ministry Partnership

On Tuesday, August 29, the Meriwether County Rotary Club donated $900 to the DORCAS Food Ministry at the First Baptist Church of Warm Springs.

To raise money for the DORCAS Food Ministry program, the Rotary Club members purchase a ticket for one dollar to win a prize. The money collected from the ticket donation is given to the DORCAS Ministry fund for the food bank.

The DORCAS Ministry is a food ministry housed in the First Baptist Church of Warm Springs. The ministry serves those who live in Meriwether County or nearby counties and need a supply of temporary food. The Church is open on the third Wednesday of every month from 10:30 - 12:30 p.m. Other community information, such as job opportunities, is shared as well.

The DORCAS ministry was named for the seamstress Dorcas, or Tabitha, whose story can be found in Acts 9:36-43. She was known for her generosity to the disadvantaged in her community. Today, Dorcas inspires our ongoing efforts to provide for those in our community who are facing immediate crises for emergency food.

The food bank touches over 179 families = 460 people
