The Meriwether County Rotary Club raised funds to support Ferst Readers. By providing quality books and literacy resources for children and their families to use at home during the earliest stages of development, they are empowering every member of the community to contribute to a child's best start in life. After all, nothing helps a baby's brain develop more than exposure to rich language and loving interactions, and books at home and being read to from birth are essential to this early development. Enrolled children in the Ferst Readers literacy program receive a bookstore-quality, age-appropriate book and additional resources mailed to their homes every month until their fifth birthday. This consistent access to printed materials fosters a language-rich environment in their home and sets them on a path toward a lifetime of learning and success.
