300 Steps. One Community. One Promise to Remember.

On Wednesday, September 9th, the Manchester community gathered at the Manchester High School football stadium in solemn remembrance of a day that forever changed our nation.

Participants took part in a symbolic 300-step stair climb on the football stadium bleachers, honoring the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and others who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

With every step up the bleachers, we remembered the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the incredible courage shown by those who answered the call that day. We also honored the first responders who continue to put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve our communities.

Participants included the Manchester Fire Department, Manchester Police Department, Meriwether County Fire Rescue, School Resource Officers, and members of the community, coming together shoulder to shoulder in unity, respect, and gratitude.

The 300 steps were more than a climb—they were a tribute. Each step represented remembrance, sacrifice, courage, and our promise that the lives and service of those we honor will never be forgotten.

Rotarians Melissa Trujillo, Club President, Kay Williamson, Dr. Bob Patterson, and others offered refreshments and words of encouragement to those participating. Their presence reflected Rotary's commitment to Service Above Self and our community's deep appreciation for the men and women who serve and protect us.

With grateful hearts, we pause to remember.

We remember those who never came home.
We honor those who answered the call.
And we thank those who continue to serve.
