Playing Santa for Seniors

Playing Santa for Seniors

December ushers in the joyful Christmas season in Warm Springs—a time filled with lights, laughter, and community celebrations. While many enjoy gatherings with family and friends, some of our senior neighbors, particularly those living in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, are unable to take part in these festivities. Still, they are never forgotten.

With that spirit in mind, the Meriwether County Rotary Club proudly launched the Santa for Seniors program to ensure our cherished seniors felt the love and joy of Christmas. This year, the program delivered thoughtful gifts to residents of the Warm Springs Nursing Home and the assisted living facility on the mountain.

On Tuesday, December 16, community spirit truly shone as the Meriwether County Rotary Club partnered with the Manchester Women’s Club. Together, the two organizations generously adopted 91 residents from the Warm Springs Nursing Home and the Morningside of Warm Springs Assisted Living Center.

Countless hours were spent preparing meaningful gift bags filled with carefully chosen items designed to bring comfort and cheer. Each bag included soft throw blankets for warmth, gentle lotions and body wash for pampering, practical essentials like combs and tissues, and engaging activities such as crossword puzzle books, pens, and pencils. Every item was selected with care to provide comfort, spark joy, and remind each senior that they are deeply valued.

Through this heartfelt effort, the Santa for Seniors program once again shared the true meaning of Christmas—love, compassion, and community—with those who matter so much to us all.
