Today’s young people have unprecedented awareness of local, regional and global issues, as well as a desire to solve problems. Yet peace is essentially absent from formal and informal education frameworks. Young people are rarely invited to create and participate in local, national and international peace projects.

The Meriwether Rotary Club has a group of young peace builders that want to put peacebuilding into practice The one-line course content and experiences of Youth & Peace in Action helps students explore – in an interactive, accessible way – peace ideals that are “universal” to creating a culture of peace. At the same time, the reflection and learning leads to project ideas that make a difference in the context of different community needs. The goal is education for peace, not just education about peace.
